Mock Youth Media Awards

By Carolyn Grote

Every January, youth services librarians eagerly await the announcement of the Youth Media Awards at the American Library Association’s midwinter meeting. This time is one of the highlights of the year, as we anxiously await the news, hoping and wishing that our favorites are chosen. You have the opportunity to join in the excitement, as several area librarians and the occasional bibliophile will meet to pick their own favorites. The Maricopa County Mock Caldecott, Newbery and Printz discussions will take place on Friday, January 8, from 9–4 p.m. at the Glendale Public Library. More information and titles currently under review can be found on our website. We have had participants from as far as Payson, and everyone is welcome.
