February 23rd, 2017 was an exciting day for library staff focused on e-resources in Arizona. Organized and hosted by the AzLA E-Resource Special Interest Group, the inaugural Arizona E-Resource Forum was a successful day filled to the brim with presentations, networking and extra nerdy e-resource fun.
The day stated bright and early with over 80 library e-resource specialist and 16 library e-resource vendors gathering at the Burton Barr Library for breakfast and networking. After covering some AzLA business, vendor presentations began. Each vendor had either 10 or 15 minutes to present and these informative sessions went on until shortly after lunch. Next came a series of panel conversations covering important topics like vendor communication, product trends and statistical reporting. Following the presentations and panels, we moved across the street for our post-forum reception and networking event.
Representatives from every library type in the state attended, including library staff from all major counties and institutions across the entire state.
Overall, response was very, very positive including comments like, “This filled a real need in our community! Thank you!” and ““Such a wonderful way to bring all of this information with current updates together into one place.” 93% of attendee follow-up respondents rated the event either “Excellent” or “Very Good” and 87% of respondents would attend this event again if it were held every 1-2 years.
Thanks again to everyone who attended this event! We are happy to report that given the levels of participation and the positive feedback received from attendees, AzLA will likely host a similar event in 2019. Consider this your early invitation to attend the next E-Resource Forum!
A HUGE thank you goes out to our event sponsors for making this event possible. Their attendance, participation, and sponsorship were critical to the success of this event. Sponsoring vendors for the event included our breakfast sponsor, Gale Cengage Learning and our reception sponsor, Midwest Tape/hoopla. The following sponsors provided beverages and lunch: Demco Software, Library Ideas, Niche Academy, OverDrive, ProQuest, Recorded Books and ReferenceUSA.
We’ll see you at the next AzLA E-Resource Forum!
